Normally dived when the north westerly winds blow out the other dive sites in Gozo, and popular as a local swimming spot with locals and tourists alike, this shallow bay has extensive Posidonia reefs and large areas of flat sand.

Great for finding octopus out hunting at night and sometimes during the day as well!

Usually thought of as a macro / muck diving photography site, it is also a suitable site for some nice diver portrait shots as it is easy to get clear blue and simple sandy backgrounds behind the subject.

The shot below was taken with this in mind and has been published in a school text book to illustrate bubbles.

Offshore there is a small island with some nice shallow swim throughs, but it is a bit of a swim out from Hondoq.
